Walking in Forgiveness

 Forgiveness

Walking in Forgiveness

1 John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

Background

The promise in 1 John 1:9 is a beacon of hope and assurance for those who are already Christians. It beckons us to a path of sincere confession and genuine repentance from the sins we commit as Christians (1John 1:8). God's faithfulness and justice shine through as He not only forgives our sins but also cleanses us, allowing us to walk in the freedom of His grace. This promise is for those who have been baptized and have put on Christ, and journeying as Christians. Let me help you obey the gospel now. To be in Christ, this blessed fellowship, you must first obey the gospel (2Thess 1:8) by believing in Christ and trusting Him as the Saviour whose blood takes away sins (John 1:29). Confess your faith in Him (Rom 10:9-10) through your words, behaviour, and actions. Be baptized by immersion (Rom 6:3-4) for the remission of all your past sins (Acts 2:38).

Be Encouraged

As we contemplate the profound truth in 1 John 1:9, let us find encouragement to embrace a life of continuous forgiveness. Confession is not a burden but a doorway to God's mercy and cleansing. Let this be a reminder that no sin is beyond the reach of God's forgiveness. As we walk in the light of His forgiveness, may we also extend this grace to others, fostering a spirit of reconciliation and love.

Supporting Verses

Psalm 32:5: "I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, 'I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,' and you forgave the iniquity of my sin."

Ephesians 4:32: "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you."

Prayer

Gracious Father, thank you for the promise of forgiveness and cleansing. Help me walk in the light of your mercy and extend that grace to others. May my life be a testament to the transformative power of your forgiveness. In Jesus' name. Amen.

God bless you
