No. 299 - Fear Not, Little Flock

The Celebration of God’s Kingdom

Fear Not, Little Flock

 Luke 12:32 (ESV)

"Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom."

Starting Prayer

Dear Lord, as I reflect on Your reassuring promise, open my heart to understand and embrace the joy of Your kingdom. Help me to trust in Your provision and guidance every day. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Background

Luke 12 includes Jesus' teachings on various topics such as the dangers of hypocrisy, the importance of acknowledging Christ, and the need to avoid anxiety about material needs. In verse 32, Jesus comforts His followers, assuring them of God's generous gift of the kingdom, highlighting God's pleasure in providing for His children.

Be Encouraged

"Fear not, little flock," Jesus says, reminding us that we are precious to God, like a shepherd cherishes his sheep. This verse is a beautiful assurance that despite our worries and uncertainties, God delights in giving us His kingdom. It’s a promise that goes beyond earthly needs, pointing to the eternal joy and peace found in God’s presence.

Imagine a shepherd caring for his sheep, ensuring they are safe and well-fed. This is how God cares for us, not reluctantly, but with pleasure. Our fears and anxieties can be laid to rest knowing that the Creator of the universe is pleased to give us the kingdom. This encourages us to live with confidence and faith, knowing we are under His loving care.

Application

Consider Matthew 6:33, "But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." Also, reflect on Romans 8:17, "and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him."

Invitation

If you have not yet committed your life to Christ, accept His invitation to be part of His kingdom today. Visit a nearby Church of Christ to learn about obeying the gospel through faith (Hebrews 11:6), repentance (Acts 2:38; 17:30-31), and baptism for the forgiveness of sins (Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38). The Lord will add you to His church, where you will grow in faith and follow Christ’s teachings (Matthew 28:18-20). Embrace the joy of being part of God's flock, and share this message with others, inviting them to experience the same assurance and peace.

Concluding Prayer

Thank You, Lord, for the promise of Your kingdom and the assurance that You delight in giving it to us. Help me to trust You fully and live in the joy of Your provision. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

May the Lord bless your day.
