No. 295 - Raised to New Life

The Victory of Christ’s Resurrection

Raised to New Life

 Colossians 2:12 (ESV)

“having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead."

Starting Prayer

Dear Lord, as I reflect on being raised to new life through Christ, help me to understand and appreciate the power of Your resurrection in my life. Guide me to live each day in this newness. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Background

Colossians 2 is a powerful chapter where Paul speaks to the believers in Colossae about the fullness of life found in Christ. He reminds them that through baptism, they have been buried with Christ and raised to new life through faith in God’s power, the same power that raised Jesus from the dead.

Be Encouraged

Think about the symbolism of baptism. Just as Jesus was buried and rose again, we too are buried in baptism and raised to live a new life. This transformation is not just a ritual but a profound change in our spiritual reality. We leave our old selves behind and embrace a new life in Christ. This new life is marked by the same power that raised Jesus from the dead, enabling us to live victoriously.

Consider how this truth affects our daily lives. When we face struggles and feel weighed down by life's challenges, we can remember that we have been raised with Christ. This means we have access to His strength and victory over sin and death. Our new life in Christ empowers us to overcome obstacles, live righteously, and reflect His love and power to those around us.

Application

Reflect on Romans 6:4, which says, "We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life." Also, think about 2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come."

Invitation

If you have not yet obeyed the gospel, then you are yet to experience this new life in Christ. I invite you to visit a nearby Church of Christ. There, you can learn more about responding to the gospel through faith (Hebrews 11:6), repentance from sin (Acts 2:38; 17:30-31), and baptism for the forgiveness of sins (Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38). Embrace the opportunity to live a victorious life in Christ.

For those already in Christ, let us live each day with the confidence and joy of our new life. Share this message of hope and transformation with others, encouraging them to experience the power of Christ’s resurrection.

Concluding Prayer

Thank you, Lord, for the new life I have through Christ’s resurrection. Help me to live each day in the victory and power You provide. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
