No. 286 - Worthy is the Lamb

The Sacrifice of God’s Lamb

Worthy is the Lamb

Revelation 5:12 (ESV)

"...saying with a loud voice, 'Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honour and glory and blessing!'"

Starting Prayer

Dear Lord, open my heart and mind to understand the significance of Jesus' sacrifice and to see His worthiness. Guide me in appreciating and honouring Him in all I do. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Background

Revelation 5 is a powerful chapter describing the vision of the heavenly throne room where John sees a scroll sealed with seven seals. No one in heaven or on earth is found worthy to open the scroll, except the Lamb who was slain, Jesus Christ. Verse 12 highlights the praise and worship given to Jesus, acknowledging His worthiness and the honour He deserves for His sacrifice.

Be Encouraged

In today's scripture, we see a glimpse of the heavenly worship directed towards Jesus, the Lamb of God. The multitude of angels and heavenly beings declare His worthiness because He was slain and by His blood, He redeemed people for God. This reminds us of the immense value and significance of Jesus' sacrifice. Despite being God, He humbled Himself to die for our sins, making Him deserving of all power, wealth, wisdom, might, honour, glory, and blessing.

Reflecting on this vision should inspire us to live in a manner that honours Jesus. We can recognise His worthiness in our daily actions, in how we treat others, and in our worship. Every act of kindness, every moment of worship, and every decision to live righteously is a way to declare, "Worthy is the Lamb."

Application

To enrich today's message, consider these verses: Philippians 2:9-11, "Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father," and John 1:29, "The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, 'Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!'"

Invitation

If you have not yet committed your life to Christ, I invite you to visit any nearby Church of Christ to be assisted in obeying the gospel of Christ through faith (Hebrews 11:6), repentance from sin (Acts 2:38; 17:30-31), and baptism for the forgiveness of all past sins to be saved (Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38). The Lord will add you to His church, where you can continue to learn and grow in your relationship with Him (Matthew 28:18-20).

Let us live in gratitude for Jesus' sacrifice. Let us share this message of hope and love with others, encouraging them to embrace the healing and peace that come from knowing Him. Share this meditation with your loved ones and encourage them to reflect on the significance of Jesus' sacrifice.

Concluding Prayer

Lord, thank You for the incredible sacrifice of Jesus, the Lamb of God. Help me to honour Him in all that I do and to share His love with others. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

May the Lord bless your day.
