No. 300 - The Eternal Reign of Peace
The Celebration of God’s Kingdom
The Eternal Reign of Peace
Isaiah 9:7
"Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this."
Starting Prayer
Dear Lord, as I reflect on Your eternal kingdom, open my heart to understand its nature of everlasting peace and justice. Guide me to live in the light of Your reign. In Jesus' name. Amen.
Background
Isaiah 9 speaks of a great hope for Israel, foretelling the birth of a child who will bring light to those in darkness. Verse 7, in particular, highlights the nature of the Messiah’s rule—eternal, just, and righteous. This passage pointed to the coming of Jesus Christ and the establishment of His everlasting kingdom.
Be Encouraged
Isaiah’s prophecy tells us of a kingdom where justice and righteousness prevail forever. This promise is fulfilled in Jesus, whose current reign brings peace that transcends all understanding. The kingdom was established during the lifetime of Jesus’ early disciples (Mark 9:1), on the Day of Pentecost. Those who are in Christ’s kingdom, though are living in a world of chaos, experience peace that never ends. This is the reality of God’s kingdom.
The idea of an eternal kingdom brings great comfort. In our lives, we often face uncertainty and injustice. Yet, God’s kingdom, established through Jesus, offers us a place of enduring peace and fairness. This gives us hope and encourages us to strive for justice and peace in our daily interactions, reflecting the values of God’s kingdom.
Application
Consider the words of Colossians 1:13, "He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son," and 1 Corinthians 15:24-26, ”Then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death.”
Invitation
If you have not yet committed your life to Christ, accept His invitation to be part of His everlasting kingdom today. Visit a nearby Church of Christ to learn about obeying the gospel through faith (Hebrews 11:6), repentance (Acts 2:38; 17:30-31), and baptism for the forgiveness of sins (Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38). The Lord will add you to His church which is His kingdom, where you will grow in faith and follow Christ’s teachings (Matthew 28:18-20). Embrace the peace and justice of God’s kingdom, and share this message with others, inviting them to experience the same assurance and joy.
Concluding Prayer
Thank You, Lord, for the promise of Your eternal kingdom of peace and justice. Help me to live in the light of Your reign and reflect Your values in my daily life. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
May the Lord bless your day.
