Strength in God's Promise

The Courage of God’s Spirit

Strength in God's Promise

Deuteronomy 31:6

"Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you."

Starting Prayer

Dear Lord, please grant me wisdom and courage as I seek insight into the title for today. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

Background

In Deuteronomy 31, Moses prepares to pass on leadership to Joshua as the Israelites are about to enter the Promised Land. Amidst this transition, God reassures Joshua and the people, emphasizing the importance of courage and trust. The verse selected for today echoes this sentiment, urging the Israelites to be strong and courageous because the Lord their God will go with them, never leaving nor forsaking them. This passage carries a profound message of God's faithfulness and His presence with His people, even in times of uncertainty and challenge.

Be Encouraged

God's command to "be strong and courageous" is not a mere suggestion but a powerful declaration of His provision and presence. Imagine a child learning to ride a bicycle for the first time. At first, there's fear and uncertainty, but with encouragement from a loving parent, the child gains confidence. Similarly, God reassures us that, regardless of the obstacles we face, He is with us every step of the way. He doesn't promise that the journey will be easy, but He promises His constant presence and support.

Moreover, the assurance that God will never leave nor forsake us provides a profound sense of security. It's like having an anchor in the midst of life's storms, knowing that we are never alone. This truth empowers us to face challenges with courage, knowing that the Almighty God is on our side.

Psalm 23:4 says, "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me." And Hebrews 13:5-6 reaffirms God's promise: "Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, 'I will never leave you nor forsake you.' So we can confidently say, 'The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?'"

If you haven't yet experienced the peace and assurance that comes from knowing God's presence, I invite you to surrender your life to Him today. Embrace His promise of strength and courage, and invite others to do the same, sharing the hope found in Christ.

Concluding Prayer

Thank You, Lord, for Your promise to never leave nor forsake me. Give me strength and courage to face the challenges ahead, knowing that You are always with me. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
