1 Peter 4:12-13 (ESV) "Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ's sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed."

Background

The apostle Peter wrote his first letter to encourage and strengthen the early Christian believers who were facing persecution and trials. In these verses, Peter addresses the challenges they were encountering and advises them not to be surprised by the fiery trials they were enduring. Instead, he encourages them to rejoice, as sharing in Christ's sufferings ultimately leads to rejoicing and glory.
