No.253 - Walking in Love

The Love of God’s Children

Walking in Love

Ephesians 5:2

"And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God."

Starting Prayer

Dear Lord, grant me insight as I reflect on Your Word today. Help me understand how to walk in love as Christ did. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Background

In Ephesians 5, Paul exhorts believers to imitate God and walk in love. He emphasises sacrificial love, modeled after Christ's example of giving Himself up for us. The selected verse urges believers to walk in this love, which is characterised by selflessness and sacrifice.

Be Encouraged

Walking in love means living a life that reflects the selfless and sacrificial love of Christ. Just as Jesus gave Himself up for us, we are called to love others in a way that puts their needs above our own. This love goes beyond mere words or feelings; it requires action and tangible expressions of care and compassion.

Practically, walking in love involves daily acts of kindness, forgiveness, and service to others. It means being willing to sacrifice our own comfort, time, and resources for the benefit of those around us. When we walk in love, we become a fragrant offering to God, pleasing Him with our obedience and devotion.

Additional Verses

- Colossians 3:14: "And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony."

- 1 John 4:11: "Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another."

Invitation

We can experience the transforming power of God's love in our lives. Let us live out this love daily. If you have not yet given your life to Christ, I invite you to join us in walking in love as Christ did. Visit any Church of Christ near you where you can be assisted to obey the Gospel through faith (Hebrews 11:6), repentance from sin (Acts 2:38; 17:30-31), and baptism for the forgiveness of sins (Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38). Please share this message with others, inviting them to experience the same joy and fulfillment found in Christ.

Concluding Prayer

Lord, thank You for the example of love that Christ has set for us. Help us to walk in love, sacrificing ourselves for the sake of others. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

May the Lord bless your day.
