Using Our Gifts Wisely

The Diversity of God’s Gifts

No. 237: Using Our Gifts Wisely

1 Peter 4:10-11
"As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen."

Starting Prayer
Dear Lord, grant me insight into the use of the diverse gifts You've given me. Help me serve others faithfully and wisely, for Your glory. In Jesus' name. Amen.
Background
In 1 Peter 4, Peter encourages believers to use their spiritual gifts to serve one another faithfully. He emphasizes that these gifts are given by God's grace and are meant to be used for His glory. The selected verses underscore the importance of stewarding these gifts responsibly, whether through speaking or serving, so that God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.
Be Encouraged
Just as a gardener carefully tends to each plant in their garden, so should we diligently cultivate and utilize the spiritual gifts entrusted to us by God. Whether our gift is speaking or serving, we should use it in a manner that reflects God's wisdom and strength, not our own. For when we use our gifts wisely, we bring glory to God and contribute to the edification of His church.
Moreover, being good stewards of our gifts means recognizing that they are not for our own benefit but for the service of others. Whether it's through preaching, teaching, hospitality, or any other gift, our primary aim should be to bless and uplift those around us. Let us, therefore, use our gifts with humility, love, and a desire to glorify God in all we do.
Additional Verses
- Romans 12:6: "Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith..."
- 1 Corinthians 10:31: "So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."
Let us commit to using our gifts wisely and for the glory of God, recognizing that He is the source of all we have and do.
Concluding Prayer
Lord, thank you for the gifts You've bestowed upon me. Help me use them wisely and faithfully, always seeking to glorify You. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
May the Lord bless your day.
