Walking Wisely
The Diversity of God’s Gifts
No. 240: Walking Wisely
Ephesians 5:15-16
"Look carefully then how you walk,
not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days
are evil."
Starting Prayer
Dear Lord, as I reflect on Your Word
today, please grant me wisdom to understand how to walk wisely in the midst of
life's diversities. Guide me in making the best use of my time for Your glory.
In Jesus' name. Amen.
Background
Ephesians 5
is a chapter filled with exhortations for Christian living. Paul urges
believers to imitate God and walk in love, avoiding all forms of immorality and
impurity. In the selected verses, Paul emphasizes the importance of walking wisely
and making the best use of time in light of the evil days. This underscores the
need for discernment and intentional living amidst the diverse challenges and
temptations of the world. Today's title, "Walking Wisely," concludes
this week's theme by highlighting the necessity of applying God's diverse gifts
wisely in our daily lives.
Be Encouraged
Paul's
exhortation to walk wisely reminds us that as Christians, we are called to live
with intentionality and discernment. In a world filled with distractions and
temptations, it's crucial to make conscious choices that align with God's will.
Just as a wise traveler carefully considers their steps to navigate through
unfamiliar terrain, we should also pay close attention to our actions and
decisions, ensuring they honor God and reflect His wisdom. By making the best
use of our time, talents, and resources, we can effectively serve God's
purposes and make a positive impact in our spheres of influence.
Additional Verses
- Psalm
90:12: "So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of
wisdom."
- Colossians 4:5: "Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time."
Invitation
I invite you
to walk wisely in your journey of faith, embracing the diverse gifts God has
given you. If you have not obeyed the gospel to become a disciple of Christ,
visit us at a nearby church of Christ, and you will be assisted to accept God’s
gift of salvation through faith (Hebrews 11:6), repentance from sin (Acts 2:38;
17:30-31), and baptism for the forgiveness of sins (Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38). You
can then experience the transformative power of Christ in your life, and find support and
encouragement to live wisely and make the most of every opportunity for God's
glory.
Concluding Prayer
Thank you, Lord, for the wisdom and
insight You have provided through Your Word today. Help me to walk wisely and
make the best use of my time for Your purposes. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
May the Lord bless your day.
