Labourers for the Harvest
The Call of God’s Mission
Labourers for the Harvest
Luke 10:2 (ESV)
"And he said to them, 'The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore, pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.'"
Starting Prayer
Dear Lord, as I reflect on Luke 10:2, I seek insight into becoming a labourer for Your harvest. Open my heart to the urgency of the mission and guide me as I encourage others in fervent prayer to join the team labourers. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
Background
In Luke 10, Jesus addresses the urgency of the mission, likening it to a plentiful harvest but with few labourers. He instructs His disciples to pray for more workers to be sent into the harvest, emphasizing the critical need for active participants in spreading the Gospel.
Be Encouraged
Today's meditation, "Labourers for the Harvest," reminds us of the abundant opportunities to share the Gospel. The harvest is ready, but the workers are few.
Consider Matthew 9:37-38:
"Then he said to his disciples, 'The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore, pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.'"
Reflect on Romans 10:14-15:
"How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?"
Envision a field ripe for harvest, representing opportunities to share the Gospel. Picture yourself as a labourer, actively engaged in the mission.
Today's title, "Labourers for the Harvest," concludes this week's theme, highlighting the need for more workers in God's mission.
Today, God offers to you an opportunity to give your life to Christ. Share this message with others to inspire them to become labourers for the harvest.
Concluding Prayer
Lord, I am grateful for the opportunity to be a labourer in Your harvest. May Your mission be on my heart daily. In Jesus' name, I pray with thanksgiving. Amen.
