Commissioned to Go

The Call of God’s Mission

Commissioned to Go

Matthew 28:18-20 (ESV)
"And Jesus came and said to them, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.'"

Starting Prayer
Dear Lord, as I explore Matthew 28:18-20, help me grasp the depth of Your call for us to go and make disciples. Guide me to understand the essence of being commissioned for Your mission. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Background
Matthew 28 captures the culmination of Jesus' earthly ministry and His commissioning of disciples for the mission. The selected verses highlight the universal authority Jesus holds and the command to spread the Gospel globally through disciple-making.

Be Encouraged
Imagine being entrusted with a significant responsibility at work. Your boss believes in your ability to accomplish the task and assures you of continual support. In a similar way, Jesus, having all authority, commissions us to go and make disciples, promising His constant presence. Remember that this commission is not for a selected class of people but for every disciple of Christ. Are you a disciple? Then the call is for you. Go!

Consider Ephesians 2:10:
"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them."

Reflect on Acts 1:8:
"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

Think of a time when stepping out of your comfort zone led to positive outcomes. The call to go and make disciples may seem challenging, but the assurance of Christ's authority and presence makes it a fulfilling mission.

Today's title, "Commissioned to Go," marks the beginning of our exploration into the call of God's mission for this week.

Invite others to embrace the commission to make disciples by first becoming disciples through faith, repentance and baptism, learning to be disciple makers too. Please share the transformative message.

Concluding Prayer
Lord, I am grateful for the call to go and make disciples. May Your authority and presence empower me as I embrace this mission. In Jesus' name, I express my gratitude. Amen.

Please share your view by leaving a comment.

Warm regards,
