No. 318 - Equipped for Battle

The Armour of God’s Protection

Equipped for Battle

Ephesians 6:10

"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might."

Starting Prayer

Heavenly Father, please open my heart and mind to understand how to be strong in You and put on Your full armour. Guide me today as I seek Your wisdom. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Background

In his letter to the Ephesians, Paul encourages the church to live out their faith with love and unity. Ephesians 6:10-18 highlights the spiritual warfare believers face and the need for God's protection. Today's verse begins the theme for this week, urging us to be strong in the Lord's mighty power.

Paul emphasises the importance of relying on God's strength rather than our own. The passage in Ephesians 6:10-18 describes the full armour of God, which includes truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, the Word of God, and prayer. These elements equip believers to stand firm against spiritual attacks and live victoriously in Christ.

Be Encouraged

Being strong in the Lord means recognising that our strength comes from Him, not from ourselves. Just as a soldier relies on their armour and weapons in battle, we must rely on God's provision to face life's challenges. Imagine a day where every decision, every reaction, and every thought is guided by the knowledge of God's strength and protection. This reliance transforms our approach to difficulties, giving us confidence and peace.

Applying this scripture, think of the times you felt overwhelmed or attacked by life's circumstances. In those moments, putting on the armour of God can make all the difference. For example, when faced with a tough decision, relying on the truth of God's Word can provide clarity and direction. When feeling vulnerable, remembering God's righteousness and salvation can provide comfort and assurance. This daily practice of relying on God's strength builds our spiritual resilience and deepens our relationship with Him.

Application

Consider these verses to further enrich today's message:

2 Corinthians 10:4 - "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds."

Psalm 18:32 - "It is God who arms me with strength, And makes my way perfect."

Invitation

If you have not yet committed your life to Christ, I invite you to visit any nearby Church of Christ. Through faith (Hebrews 11:6), repentance from sin (Acts 2:38; 17:30-31), and baptism for the forgiveness of all past sins to be saved (Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38), the Lord will add you to His church. Here, you will continue to learn more about God and put into practice Christ's commandments (Matthew 28:18-20). Reflect on today's message and let the Spirit guide you. Share this message with your loved ones and encourage them to walk in the Spirit as well.

Concluding Prayer

Thank You, Lord, for the insight and guidance from today's message. Help me to live and walk by Your Spirit every day. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

May the Lord bless your day.
