No. 321 - God’s Righteous Armour

The Armour of God’s Protection

God’s Righteous Armour

Isaiah 59:17

"For He put on righteousness as a breastplate, and a helmet of salvation on His head; He put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloak."

Starting Prayer

Dear Lord, as I reflect on Your word today, help me to understand the depth of Your protection and righteousness. Guide me to apply these truths in my life. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Background

Isaiah 59 speaks about the sin and separation between God and His people, but it also promises redemption and deliverance from God. The chapter portrays God as a divine warrior who intervenes to bring justice and salvation. Verses 16-21 describe God's armour and His commitment to save His people and punish evil.

In Isaiah 59:17, we see a vivid picture of God wearing righteousness as a breastplate and salvation as a helmet. This imagery highlights God's commitment to justice and His power to save. It reminds us that God Himself fights for us, equipped with the ultimate armour.

Be Encouraged

Imagine a soldier fully equipped for battle, ready to face any challenge. This is how God presents Himself in Isaiah 59:17, clothed in righteousness and salvation. Just as a soldier's armour protects and empowers, God's armour signifies His readiness to protect us and bring justice. When we face difficulties, we can trust that God is fighting for us, armed with righteousness and salvation.

This powerful imagery assures us that God's protection is not passive. He is actively involved in our lives, defending us from harm and guiding us toward righteousness. When we feel vulnerable, we can remember that God is our divine warrior, equipped to handle any situation. His armour is a reminder that we are never alone in our battles.

Application

Consider these verses to enrich today's message:

- Ephesians 6:13-14 "Therefore take up the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness."

- 1 Thessalonians 5:8 "But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation."

Invitation

If you have not yet committed your life to Christ, I invite you to visit any nearby Church of Christ. Through faith (Hebrews 11:6), repentance from sin (Acts 2:38; 17:30-31), and baptism for the forgiveness of all past sins and your salvation (Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38), the Lord will add you to His church. Here, you will continue to learn more about God and put into practice Christ’s commandments (Matthew 28:18-20). Reflect on today’s message and allow the Spirit to guide you in making this important decision. Share this message with your loved ones and encourage them to seek God’s protection and righteousness as well.

Concluding Prayer

Thank You, Lord, for the assurance of Your righteous armour. Help me to trust in Your protection and to stand firm in Your truth. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

May the Lord bless your day.
