No. 333 - Honour and Praise to the Lord

The Praise of God’s Glory

Honour and Praise to the Lord

Psalm 96:7-8

"Give to the Lord, O families of the peoples, Give to the Lord glory and strength. Give to the Lord the glory due His name; Bring an offering, and come into His courts." (NKJV)

Starting Prayer

Heavenly Father, as I meditate on Your Word today, open my heart to understand the importance of giving You the honour and praise You deserve. Guide my thoughts as I seek to glorify Your name. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Background

Psalm 96 is a beautiful hymn of praise to God, calling all the earth to sing of His glory. The psalmist encourages all people to worship the Lord with joy, acknowledging His greatness and power. The verses we focus on today remind us to give the Lord the glory that is due to Him and to worship Him with reverence and offerings.

Be Encouraged

We are called to honour the Lord with our lives, recognising His greatness and power. Just as we bring gifts to honour those we respect, we are to bring our praise and worship as an offering to God. The glory due to His name is not just in words but in our actions and the way we live our lives. When we offer our best to God, we acknowledge that He is worthy of all the glory and honour.

In practical terms, this means that our daily lives should reflect our commitment to giving God the glory. Whether at work, home, or with friends, our actions should be an offering to the Lord. When we speak kindly, help others, or make decisions that honour God, we are bringing an offering into His courts. This is the praise that pleases Him, and it is how we can live out our worship daily.

Application

To enrich our understanding of giving glory to God, consider these verses: "Give unto the Lord the glory due to His name; Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness." (Psalm 29:2), and "Whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." (1 Corinthians 10:31). These scriptures remind us that every aspect of our lives should be an offering of praise to the Lord.

Invitation

If you have not yet committed your life to Christ, today is the day to begin offering your life as a living sacrifice to the Lord. Visit a nearby Church of Christ, where you can be assisted in obeying the gospel of Christ through faith (Hebrews 11:6), repentance from sin (Acts 2:38; 17:30-31), and baptism for the forgiveness of all past sins and your salvation (Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38). The Lord will add you to His church, where you will continue to learn more about God and put into practice Christ's commandments (Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 2:47). Let this meditation inspire you to start giving God the glory He deserves. Share this message with your loved ones, and encourage them to do the same.

Concluding Prayer

Lord, I thank You for showing me the importance of giving You the glory and honour You deserve. Help me to live each day as an offering of praise to You. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

May the Lord bless your day.
